World Vision Hong Kong in India (2018)
Tags:In recent years, India has made significant progress economically, with the country’s economic growth becoming more self-reliant and stable. However, development has not been even among different population groups and geographic areas. While the country has largely reduced poverty, there are still 176 million poor people who are in need of help. The needs for development remain and the whole world will be looking at how India meets these needs.
World Vision started its work in India in as early as 1951. By the 1970s, World Vision India was already actively involved in community development and relief responses. At the moment, World Vision has 113 Area Development Programmes across 25 states and union territories, impacting the lives of over 280,000 sponsored children and their families.
In 2018, World Vision Hong Kong contributed approximately HK$50.3 million to support 7 ADPs and 11 other projects in India, benefiting over 1,119,000 people.
