Dear Reader,
2021 is perhaps going to be a year full of concerns and uncertainties for many. As for myself, it is going to be a year filled with challenges and responsibilities, because I have chosen to submit to God’s calling and taken up the role as World Vision Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Officer in February to serve the world’s poor and needy.
Over the past 30 years, I have been actively participating in the development of Hong Kong’s social services. Before joining World Vision Hong Kong, I was the Chief Executive Officer of New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association. The association provides and promotes mental health services for people in recovery of mental illness, runs multiple social enterprises to create job opportunities and enhance their social integration. Prior to that, I spent years working at the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups where I focused on providing professional and diversified services for the youth, and led a number of innovative projects to support the holistic development of young people in Hong Kong.
It is my great honour to join the World Vision Hong Kong family. However, with the whole world now much troubled by the pandemic and economic downturn, the state of the children and families that World Vision serves has been made more difficult and volatile. As a humanitarian relief and development organisation, World Vision has to take up greater responsibilities, with which come greater challenges. Nevertheless, my faith remains strong as I join my colleagues in following God’s lead. The Bible says in Deuteronomy 31:8, “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you…”
The selfless generosity of our Hong Kong and Macau donors will also support us in continuing our humanitarian relief and development works. From the smiling faces of children printed in the Annual Summary Review of 2020, I can feel that it is because of your donations that they have been able to receive timely help and care in the midst of the challenges last year. We wholeheartedly thank you for your trust and partnership over the years, which have richly blessed the world’s poor and vulnerable children and families.
May peace and joy be upon you!
Yours truly,
Amy Fung
Chief Executive Officer
