Dear Reader,
As we continue to deal with the pandemic situation in our city, I would like to first wish you and your loved ones good health.
Sometimes, it can be difficult to understand why God has allowed certain things to happen. The COVID-19 pandemic, which has been troubling us for two years, and the devastation that armed conflict left in places like Ukraine and Afghanistan, are examples that immediately come to mind.
In the past two years, we have all been caught in an unprecedented pandemic. While doing all that we can to stay safe, I am sure a lot of us have also realised that it has taken quite a toll on our emotions. There were times when feelings like fear, worry and desperation seemed so strong that we simply felt that hope was gone. However, as Christians, we know that, regardless of the circumstances, we can always cling onto the hope that can only be found in Christ Jesus.
This hope is what keeps us going and motivates us to help others embrace it. As World Vision, we serve not only for the sake of helping people survive and meet their immediate needs, we also aspire to create lasting change in their lives and empower them to build a brighter future for themselves. To address the acute needs that the pandemic brought, we have stepped up the scale and scope of our responses, so that more people in need can receive the vital support they require.
In this issue, you will be able to read about some of our work to counter the pandemic and other disasters that occurred last year. Hopefully, you will be able to catch a glimpse of how we address the needs of children, families and communities, and know that all this is possible thanks to your participation.
