World Vision Hong Kong in Vietnam (2022)
Tags:In recent years, Vietnam has been experiencing huge economic growth, progressing from one of the poorest in the world to a middle-income economy in less than 40 years, thanks to a series of reforms and favourable global trends. Besides the economy, access to health, education and infrastructure services has also significantly improved. Nevertheless, if Vietnam is to become a high-income country by 2045 as it aspires, it will need to address several challenges, such as an ageing population, environmental degradation and climate change, which may undermine its progress of development.
World Vision has been working in Vietnam since 1988, collaborating with the government, other NGOs, corporates and communities to implement a variety of holistic, long-term development programmes across 17 cities and provinces, including 30 ongoing Area Programmes in 2023.
In 2022, World Vision Hong Kong contributed approximately HK$10.32 million to support 3 APs and 1 other project in Vietnam, benefiting about 70,410 people.
