Thank you all for joining us at the Peace for Every Child Charity Walk on 6 October. By attending the event, over 1,000 members of the public have raised over HK$1.1 million to provide practical help and hope for Syrian refugee children.
We also express our sincere gratitude for the ardent support of The Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club, supporting groups, sponsors and volunteers.
Photos taken that day have been uploaded to the World Vision Hong Kong Facebook page. We will continue assisting Syrian refugees, and pray that the conflict would soon cease and refugees would return home and start a new page in life.
In Bekaa Valley, Lebanon, where countless tarpaulin-made makeshift tents have become part of the landscape, children play around puddles as the sun returns after the rain.
Catherine (aged 5) is one of the many Syrian refugee children living in settlements here. Not long after her birth, the conflict back home drove her entire family to flee. Four years later, they remain refugees, sharing a two-room tent with another family (13 people in total) and living on meagre humanitarian aid.
For Catherine and other children born in the settlements, home is merely an imagination. Fear captivated them when they heard bombing. Aysha, Catherine’s mother, has noted how stressed her children are, as they fight regularly and refuse to go outside the tent. “My children were born and raised in a tent. There is no tomorrow for them,” says Aysha.
“We’re not capable of dreaming for the future” has become a reality for this generation of Syrian children, but you and I can shine a light and help them out of darkness.

Countless children like Catherine have been forced to leave home in search of safety, experiencing many hardships before arriving at a refugee camp. World Vision provides not only food and water for refugee families, but also education and leisure activities for children in camps to allow them to be children.
Show your concern by taking part in the charity walk to help us meet the needs of families and children.
World Vision provides education for refugee children through a project funded by UNICEF.
Children enjoy snacks distributed by World Vision in class.
The Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club fullly supports the event, including sponsorship for the operation, transportation, food and beverage, setup and programme cost.
